01/04/20: Genesis Genesis 10-12; Matthew 4

As I read today I saw a critical parallel trait of faithful men in both the Old and New Testaments.  Take a look:

Genesis 12 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.

Matthew 4:  18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him

Matthew 421 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Do you see the trait — it is obedience in faith?   We often speak that the mark of a true believer is not just understanding a teaching but actually following the direction it provides.  Today — just reflect a bit on your own actions.
