01/04/20: Genesis Genesis 10-12; Matthew 4
As I read today I saw a critical parallel trait of faithful men in both the Old and New Testaments. Take a look:
Genesis 12: 4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.
Matthew 4: 18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him
Matthew 4: 21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
Do you see the trait — it is obedience in faith? We often speak that the mark of a true believer is not just understanding a teaching but actually following the direction it provides. Today — just reflect a bit on your own actions.
