01/07/20: Genesis 19-21; Matthew 6:1-18
Matthew 6: 9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
These are very familiar verses that most of us probably memorized as a child. One point to consider — based on some “margin notes” in my Bible in this model prayer Jesus introduced a new way of referring to the Lord. In the past He was referenced as being the “Lord God, Almighty; the Creator.” And He is and always will be.
But do you see the element of His being that Jesus explained — He is the God of the universe and He is also our Father!
