06/09/2018 — Proverbs 19 – 21

Again, as we read these three Proverbs there are several that catch my eye.  But the one that provides wisdom that I have needed in the past are:

Proverbs 19:14Houses and wealth are inherited from parents but a prudent wife is from the Lord.”

Proverbs 20:3  “To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

How similar is this Proverb to a warning given directly by our Lord to remind us that it is not so much what we do as to the state of our heart?

Matthew 23:23    Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
