08/08/2018 — Jeremiah Chapters 4-6

As we read through these chapters you can see the impending doom for Jerusalem.  But did you catch one series of verses?   From Jeremiah 4:18-19

18 “Your own conduct and actions
    have brought this on you.
This is your punishment.
    How bitter it is!
    How it pierces to the heart!”

19 Oh, my anguish, my anguish!
    I writhe in pain.
Oh, the agony of my heart!
    My heart pounds within me,
    I cannot keep silent.
For I have heard the sound of the trumpet;
    I have heard the battle cry.

While commentators reference that these are the words and feeling of Jeremiah another thought came to me — is this not similar to the sorrow the Lord, himself, must feel when we rebel against His will?  As our  father would he not only be disappointed but also sorrow at the pain we bring to Him?

God’s sorry at our sins …
