12/06/2018 — 2 Corinthians Chapters 10 – 13

2 Corinthians 12: But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

How powerful are these words & the promise we have in these verses.  A commentator writes:

When we have received a right relationship with God, his grace (kindness) is constantly working in our lives.  His grace works both in us, and through us. It works in us, because Christ lives in us.  Therefore, his strength is in our lives, even when we ourselves are weak. Also, his grace works through us, to benefit other people. That happens when God uses us to bring other people into a right relationship with him.

In the last decade, I have been plagued with various physical issues and I have realized that sometimes the best we can do is not enough to avoid suffering. I have tried to live a spiritually healthy life, eat the right things, exercise, etc., etc., (and very proud of it, maybe that is a key revelation) only to find that serious physical issues can still occur. What all of these things have taught me and reinforced in my life is the graciousness of God and his marvelous provision. What an amazing gift to not be fearful about anything in life or death! God is surely still working in me, on me as he is teaching me what it is to be living “in the faith” and and what it feels like to have Christ living in me. I can’t say I celebrate the weaknesses but I most certainly celebrate that his grace is more than sufficient in all things!
