1/9/2018 Job Chapters 21-23

To me these passages contain a very subdued recognition by Job on God’s power and grace.  In Job 23:21 he writes:

But if I go to the east, he is not there;
    if I go to the west, I do not find him.
When he is at work in the north, I do not see him;
    when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him.
10 But he knows the way that I take;
    when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.

While Job may not be able to physically “find” God Job recognizes that the Lord does know his path and that after all of his trials he will be found pure.

Do we have that measure of faith during our times of trial?

    I think at times when I face trails I get discouraged and don’t have the faith that Job had and other times I do. I know God wants us to have the same faith Job did and he uses his story as our example. What has helped me more recently when I have faced a trail I think about all the other times and focus on how God saw me through it.

    It is a hard lesson in life, especially for children, to understand that life is not fair but there is the truth of the matter. God is singular and sovereign. He sometimes answers yes, no, wait and sometimes doesn’t answer at all or so it appears. At times, the best we can do is to say humbly, “I don’t know”. In all of life, I find peace in my faith when I remember that God is never indifferent to my circumstance. He does take pleasure in how I act and react in all ways.

    Someone told me once that he tells us no sometimes to give us a better yes. That statement is so amazing and shows how God loves us so much. It gives me Goss bumps to just think about it.
