8/9/19: 1 Corin. 5:1-13; Psalm 31:1-8; Proverbs 21:1-2

Have you ever heard an evangelist preach a message that made you feel uncomfortable because he was “treading on your toes” with a topic that was a weakness or source of sin for you?   If so, imagine how uncomfortable the Corinthian church must have felt when they read the following in Paul’s letter:

1 Corinthians 5: It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this?

My point — while a dedicated evangelist will not judge he is certainly charged with knowing the needs of a Body of believers and will not “hold back” when a topic needs to be addressed.

Sometimes we need this type of message & we can thank God for the evangelist(s) who have the dedication to bring the reality to us.
