8/9/19: 1 Corin. 5:1-13; Psalm 31:1-8; Proverbs 21:1-2
Have you ever heard an evangelist preach a message that made you feel uncomfortable because he was “treading on your toes” with a topic that was a weakness or source of sin for you? If so, imagine how uncomfortable the Corinthian church must have felt when they read the following in Paul’s letter:
1 Corinthians 5: 5 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. 2 And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this?
My point — while a dedicated evangelist will not judge he is certainly charged with knowing the needs of a Body of believers and will not “hold back” when a topic needs to be addressed.
Sometimes we need this type of message & we can thank God for the evangelist(s) who have the dedication to bring the reality to us.
