9/10/19: 2 Corin. 11:16-33; Psalm 54:1-7; Proverbs 23:1-3
When reading 2 Corinthians 11 we certainly need to keep in mind the historical perspective. As we have seen the Corinthian church had been vulnerable to false teachings of men who claimed to be “greater” apostles than Paul. So, Paul’s “boasting” is more to remind the church of his divinely given authority than it is to laud his own accomplishments.
And as he listed his multiple physical abuses I was struck by the description of not only his sacrifices but the true love & dedication he had for the spiritual health of the believers. For he stated:
2 Corinthians 11: 28 Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches. 29 Who is weak, and I do not feel weak? Who is led into sin, and I do not inwardly burn?
