John 19

As Jesus faces becoming sin for us on the cross there was one last task that needed to be addressed. Since the death of his father, Joseph as the elder son it was his responsibility to see to the care of His mother. So, as this terrible process began He made sure that His mother would be cared for, He placed His mother in John’s care. I do wonder where Jesus’ brothers were in this whole process, I do think that they chose to distance themselves from Jesus. We know they did believe and what was happening to Jesus was bring great shame on them and the family! I believe that Mary did not care about that, she just knew that her son was on a cross dying and she was going to be there. For that day both The Heavenly Father and Mary were both having their hearts broken as they both watched their Son die on that cross! “Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:34-35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I find the discussion of Jesus “kingship” very interesting. He was denied by his own people the Jews. I have a feeling Pilate came closer to accepting who Jesus was as represented by the fear he showed. I question whether the sign he wrote in three languages claiming Jesus “kingship”was tongue in cheek but rather a statement of truth. What is worse for us, to deny him publicly or deny him when we are not obedient to his Lordship?
