Mark 16

This is our first encounter with the resurrection in our readings. I would argue that this event is one of the most important events in the history of mankind! It has always been my anchor when my faith was weak. For it is the resurrection that proves that Jesus was truly the “Son of God!” A truth that will then put a Divine stamp on both the Old and New Testament. What do you think?

I believe the resurrection is the very foundation of faith and proved that Jesus was exactly who he said he was, the Son of God. I think the statement also holds true for his first followers. Their immature faith was solidified at the resurrection and they could go forward to be witness to the truth of it to the surrounding world, even to the point of giving up life for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Having spent a weekend listening to the division in our country, vulgarities and critical judgements spewed throughout, I sadly have to admit that we are not a Christian nation and doubt that we ever were even from the beginning. Our only hope is in Christ and I’m praying that I live worthy of such great love and sacrifice. Our nation, our world is desperate for hope and peace. Can we turn our faces to the Father or are we doomed to continue this downward spiral?

Feeling frustrated tonight! I know I don’t belong here but I’m just praying for more peace as we pass through this land!
